100 Black Men of Phoenix held their 1st Annual Mentoring and Scholarship Golf Tournament on April 24, 2011 at the Raven Golf Club in South Mountain.
There were more than 140 golfers in attendance. And with great sponsors such as Republic Services, Inc the Title Sponsor, Cox Communications, the Black and Gold Sponsor and Arizona Federal Credit Union, Apparel Sponsor, the event was even more a success. 100 Black Men of Phoenix is hugely supported by their volunteer team, which has been named the 100 Stars. The 100 Stars assisted with greeting the players, registration and raffle sales.
The event closed with a Jazz Luncheon featuring National Recording Artist Marion Meadows. The luncheon also hosted the awards banquet and delivered raffle items to a little more than 50 winners.
100 Black Men of Phoenix’s mission is to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans. Through mentoring, the 100 Black Men of Phoenix organization believes that children become what they see, and they learn to rationalize the world around them by adapting to their environment, whether it’s positive or negative. In their approach to mentoring, they strive to provide not only positive images to emulate, but a positive environment in which children can grow and thrive.
