About Us
Bettina Vance-Johnson is founder and Chief Executive Officer of Urbanly DIVA (Divine, Inspirational, Virtuous, Anointed) Inc. Founded in 2010, Urbanly DIVA Inc acts as an advocate and fundraiser for nonprofit organizations to help drive philanthropic services and goods to these organizations so they can provide strong support within their communities.

Bettina has also formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, DIVA Cares, as a state corporation (federal exempt status pending). DIVA Cares’ mission is, to assist homeless families recover from homelessness, reach life-long independence and enhance their quality of life. Bettina is passionate about philanthropy and volunteerism and has turned her passion into a business.

Bettina is an only child and native of Philadelphia, PA. She is a mother of 2 sons and 1 daughter. Bettina has lived in Arizona since 2005and enjoys shopping, reading, dancing, skating, and spending time with her children and friends.

Prior to becoming a philanthropist, Bettina worked in the insurance claims industry for more than 20 years with such companies as AIG, Progressive Insurance Harleysville, Wausau and Scottsdale Insurance. This work experience is where she developed her strong customer service skills.

Bettina’s extensive background as a volunteer began, while a spouse of an active duty soldier and volunteer with the US Army. She was a volunteer for nine years, where she served in Family Readiness Groups (Family Support Group) in Watertown, NY and Pittsburgh, PA as a Leader and Army Family Team Builder (AFTB) Instructor. She went on to volunteer as a Relocation Specialist for the US Army Recruiting Command Headquarters in Fort Knox, KY. She is also a long time member of Mocha Moms Inc, which is a volunteer membership in a 501(c)3 community service organization which is a support group for moms. Bettina has held leadership positions since 2007, beginning with 2007 President Elect of Phoenix East Valley Chapter and AZ State Coordinator from 2008-2011. Bettina currently holds a National Officer position as Regional Co-Director of the Southwest/West Region since 2011.

As a Philanthropist, Bettina continues to give of her time volunteering within the community. Bettina was recently elected to the Northeast Maricopa Regional Partnership Council of First Things First as an At Large Representative. Also, Bettina currently serves as a Resource Management Community Impact Member for Valley of the Sun United Way and volunteers with 100 Black Men of Phoenix. Bettina also volunteers at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix and facilitates workshops to the youth, ages 16-22, at Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development. Formerly, she was Membership Co-Chair of National Sales Network, Phoenix Chapter and committee member of UMOM New Day Centers Annual Children’s Charity Golf Tournament Planning Committee. Additionally, Bettina volunteers at her children’s schools and is a 2012 member of Phoenix Black Board of Directors Project.

After retiring from the insurance industry Bettina returned home to devote all of her time to raising her children. Most recently, Bettina has returned to school to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nonprofit Leadership and Management at Arizona State University. Bettina feels this new chapter in her life will enable her to gain knowledge and develop strong skills that will arm her with the power to really make a positive difference in the communities of Phoenix and surrounding areas.

As a mompreneur, Bettina is an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay and a freelance writer with Examiner.com writing articles for Scottsdale Community and Scottsdale Fashion. Bettina is a member of the Meeting Professionals International and Association of Fundraising Professionals.
